MECHANICAL LIFTING
Lifting operations are inherent to many occupations in the construction industry. They can be performed manually or using lifting equipment. Both manual lifting and mechanical lifting operations can put construction workers at great risk of injury or health symptoms causing sick leave or disability. The costs of accidents and ill health related to lifting operations, are immense. This article describes the risks associated with lifting operations in the construction industry and measures to reduce these risks. The aim of this course is to minimize the possibility of back strain, damaged fingers or other injuries by using mechanical lifting equipment such as a pulley block or an electrically powered hoist. Move heavy objects with a forklift, crane or other mechanical lifting equipment. Mechanical lifting equipment must only be used by fully qualified people.
FLAGMAN
In work zones, flagmen are provided to stop traffic as necessitated by the work; or to maintain continuous traffic flow through the work zone at safe speeds. In all cases, the flagman must be clearly visible to approaching traffic. This course has been developed to teach participants the duties and responsibilities of flagman. Flagman is a vital link in the safety of work zone operations.
STOP WORK AUTHORITY
Stop Work Authority (SWA) provides employees and contract workers with the responsibility and obligation to stop work when a perceived unsafe condition or behaviour may result in an unwanted event. Performing a Stop Work Authority to correct safety hazards and halt potential unsafe actions before they happen is not only responsible, but also effective. In the oil and gas industry in recent years, it's been one of the most successful approaches to safety.

Behavioral Based Safety (BBS) is the methodology to safety that focuses on workers?behavior as the cause of most work-related injuries and illnesses. According to statistics, around 80 to 90 percent of all incidents, the employee behavior played an essential part. BBS focuses on identifying and reinforcing a safety culture and should provide the employees the opportunity to address the critical aspects of building and promoting an incident free culture. This course will focus on identifying and reinforcing safe behaviors, therefore reducing unsafe/at-risk behaviors. Safety in the workplace is influenced by a number of factors such as the environment, attitude, commitment and the personal attributes of the individual. Safety performance can be improved by addressing these major influences.

This course is designed to present fundamental information on Walkie Stacker Forklift. The course will highlight the importance of checking out the equipment before operating it. In addition, the course will educate participants on how to properly survey the areas in which personnel will operate their equipment for potentially hazardous situations. Personnel attending this course will learn how operate their walkie stacker forklift using safe driving techniques, learn how to pick up and deliver loads safely, learn how to load and unload trucks and other vehicles.
