A strong academic record can open doors for you down the road. More importantly, through the process of becoming a straight-A student, you’ll learn values like hard work, discipline and determination.

Rule #1: Sit at the Front.

Sitting closer to the instructor significantly reduces visual distractions and naturally increases engagement. It also encourages interaction and makes it easier to ask questions.

Rule #2: Take Notes by Hand.

Research shows that writing notes by hand enhances understanding and memory more effectively than typing or taking pictures.

Don’t write everything down. Focus on key ideas and main concepts.

Rule #3: Participate and Ask Questions.

Engaging in discussions keeps your brain alert and boosts your ability to retain information. Asking even a simple question makes learning more interactive and memorable.

Rule #4: Balance Listening and Note-Taking.

Some trainees write too much and miss important explanations. A better strategy is:
Listen first, then summarize what you understood.

Rule #5: Keep Your Phone Away.

Checking your phone doesn’t distract you for only a few seconds—it can disrupt your focus for several minutes afterward.
Put your phone on silent mode and keep it out of reach during the session.

Rule #6: Review Your Notes After the Session.

Within the first 24 hours, your brain begins organizing information. Reviewing for just 10 minutes is enough to reinforce what you learned.
Revisit the main ideas and add simple examples or summaries.
